Australian Speciality Fibres was established as a sister company to Fremantle Wool Trading to focus on exotic fibres for high end fashion. Commencing trading in 2021 Australian Speciality Fibres is actively sourcing alpaca and mohair from Australian producers.

Australian Speciality Fibres has access to a worldwide network of customers through its association with Fremantle Wool Trading. The business is able to take raw fibre from Australian farmers right through to alpaca and mohair ‘tops. Processes include scouring, carding and combing.

Over recent years demand for alpaca fibre and mohair has increased dramatically as producers of high end European fashion have sought to increase the of profile of exotic fibres in their collections. A focus on sustainability in fashion and the importance of quality garments (as opposed to fast fashion), has been driving this trend.
